Over glazing a pot has many risks. It can stick to a kiln shelf when if the glaze runs too much. Or it can cause the glaze to crack and in some cases the pot to shatter. . . . However the results are often worth these risks. The colours organically flowing together and interacting is something I strive for. I am also a massive fan of metals in the glaze, in particular copper which produces a great red colour which contrasts with the shades of blue I prefer on my pots. . . . As ever though the beauty of the pots, to me, is the random nature of the glaze dripping and flowing as it heats up in the kiln.
